Teaching Philosophy

I believe that God is the Creator of all things, including music, and that music can be used to praise Jesus!

Revelation 4:11  “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”
Psalm 40:3  “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.  Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.”

I strive to help the young pianists of Faribault become skilled musicians.  I believe that a balanced music education is a necessary preparation for whatever their future in music may be; therefore, lessons will include ear training, theory, technic, sight reading, improvisation, and performance technics.  Even though music may not be the only goal that students have for the future, I believe the basic skills learned through musical study will prove to be beneficial for many areas of life.

I believe each of my students is creative and capable of excelling in music, and I am committed to a personalized approach for each student’s course of study.  Each lesson is individually and creatively prepared to not only teach musical principles, but also to bring out the artistry and creativity in the student!  Faribault piano students will be taught solid musicianship focusing on the whole musician as well as be inspired to love the piano and creatively express themselves.
